The 1500 m³ TSHD, built by Chantier-Piriou, undergoes successful trials near Le Grau-du-Roi.
In a significant advancement for maritime infrastructure, the 1500 cubic meter trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD), Hydromer, has been officially commissioned and underwent testing off the south coast of France. Constructed by Chantier-Piriou in Concarneau, the vessel features a comprehensive dredging system supplied by HollandMT, which includes a DN500 diagram system, a high-capacity dredge pump, jet water system, integrated dredge-pipes with bow coupling, and a sophisticated hopper discharge system equipped with bottom doors.
Operational Success and Strategic Deployment of the Hydromer
The Hydromer’s operational trials were executed near Le Grau-du-Roi and included critical shore discharge pumping tests, confirming the vessel’s readiness for service. The regional authority of Occitanie will oversee the management and operation of the Hydromer, stationing it at the port of Sete. This strategic deployment underlines the region’s commitment to enhancing their maritime and dredging capabilities.
