Mud-Cat-Launches-State-of-the-Art-Flagship-Dredge

WISCONSIN, USA – Ellicott Dredge Technologies (EDT) proudly announces the introduction of the new Mud Cat MC-275D, the latest addition to its flagship auger dredge lineup. This advanced, modular system is designed to deliver exceptional cutting, pumping, and propulsion capabilities at an affordable price point.

Key Features of the Mud Cat MC-275D

Versatile and Efficient Design

“We’ve engineered a dredge that excels in both hard and soft materials, efficiently handles abrasive materials, removes vegetation, operates at depths of 25 feet (7.6 meters) with positive downforce, and navigates debris-rich environments,” said Ryan Horton, Vice President of Sales for EDT. “Our goal is to enhance our customers’ competitiveness by offering a versatile dredge that reduces the need for multiple specialized dredges, all while keeping costs down. The MC-275D offers significant value to our clients.”

Heavy-Duty Performance

The MC-275D boasts heavy-duty downforce ladder cylinders that secure the 30,500 in-lbs. (3,450 N-m) torque cutterhead firmly in place. The cutterhead’s angle is hydraulically adjustable to optimize cutting efficiency. The standard model includes a high-chrome 3,000 gpm (11,400 l/min) pump designed for abrasive slurry, with a 4-inch (102 mm) solids clearance. For environments with high debris, an optional 8-inch (203 mm) solids clearance pump is available. The MC-275D also features EDT’s patent-pending Pump Defender, which reduces downtime by up to 80% in debris-rich conditions compared to competitors.

Advanced Propulsion and Mobility

Marine Prop Drive System

The dredge includes a marine prop drive system with 1,000 lbs. (450 kg) thrust for cable-free dredging in soft materials or easy mobility around the job site. When working with harder materials like fly ash and sand, a cable drive is employed.

Modular Construction for Easy Transport

Designed for easy transport, the MC-275D’s modular construction facilitates ocean shipping. Its modern cab features dual joystick controls integrated into an ergonomic air ride chair, a folding jump seat for a deckhand or trainer, a refrigerator, a CANbus system with a 10-inch color monitor, a rear backup camera with a color monitor, climate control, exterior LED lighting, a marine-grade stereo system, and a modern dash console with digital controls. Optional features include a remote control system, flow meter, density meter, and Dredging GPS.

Enhanced User Experience

Modern Cab Features

“With 30 years in the dredging industry, I’ve seen many competitors offering outdated technology,” said DuWayne Richert, EDT Regional Sales Manager. “The MC-275D will appeal to contractors who demand more from their equipment than a basic cab with lever controls. Its price point is just as impressive as its capabilities.”

Safety and User-Friendly Design

Safety and user-friendliness are paramount in the MC-275D’s design, featuring port and starboard entry points for the deck and cab, high-visibility paint, and a clean deck layout. The cutterhead and pump are equipped with quick-release hatches for swift and easy debris removal.

Longevity and Reliability

“Mud Cat dredges have a reputation for longevity, with many units still operational after 40+ years,” Horton added. “This enduring quality is what our clients expect, and it’s a legacy that the modern MC-275D continues to uphold. Our motto remains true: ‘The only way to stop a Mud Cat…is to turn off the key.'”

Conclusion

Mud Cat, the pioneer of the auger dredge, continues to lead the portable dredge industry with innovations in environmental cutterhead dredge technology, including remote-controlled, automated, and ROV dredge systems.
