Baggerbedrijf de Boer – Dutch Dredging BV Selects Royal IHC for Advanced TSHD
Baggerbedrijf de Boer — Dutch Dredging BV has reaffirmed its trust in Royal IHC by commissioning the design and construction of a specialized 2,300 m3 trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD). This state-of-the-art vessel is an evolution of the LESSE. Royal IHC successfully delivered this hopper dredger to Dutch Dredging in 2019. The new dredger adheres to the most recent environmental norms, fulfilling IMO Tier III and Euro Stage V regulations.
A Continued Partnership with Royal IHC
Royal IHC has been a long-term partner for Dutch Dredging, having previously built four custom vessels, including the versatile LESSE. Recognizing LESSE’s effectiveness in global projects and the increasing environmental stipulations in project bids, Dutch Dredging has opted to continue its partnership with Royal IHC. This decision supports fleet expansion and adherence to strict emission standards, further solidifying their ongoing collaboration.
The LESSE: A Model for Maintenance Dredging
Kees van de Graaf Jr., Director of Dutch Dredging, commends the LESSE as the ideal maintenance dredger. Its shallow draught and cutting-edge dredging technology allow the professional crew to operate at peak efficiency. This capability ensures reliable performance and enhances Dutch Dredging’s competitiveness in the dredging sector.
Seamless Collaboration Enhances Fleet Capabilities
The order for the new trailing suction hopper dredger is a testament to the productive collaboration between Dutch Dredging and Royal IHC. “The collaboration with Royal IHC is running smoothly, and with our combined experience, we are building a fine new addition to our fleet,” said Van de Graaf Jr. This partnership leverages the strengths of both companies to innovate and expand Dutch Dredging’s operational capacity.
Technical Expertise and Operational Experience Merge
Derk te Bokkel, CEO of Royal IHC, reflects on the synergy between the two companies: “It is a textbook example of the best of both worlds coming together. Dutch Dredging’s operational experience with the LESSE and Royal IHC’s technical expertise has driven the design improvements, resulting in a successful upgrade of the LESSE.” This collaboration not only enhances the new dredger’s technical capabilities but also ensures it meets the latest environmental and operational standards.
By focusing on the partnership’s strengths and the advanced features of the new TSHD, this collaboration between Dutch Dredging and Royal IHC sets a new benchmark in the dredging industry.
