Wilmington Harbor 403 Letter Report and Environmental Impact Statement

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has unveiled plans for a series of public engagements as part of the scoping comment period for the Wilmington Harbor 403 project.

Engaging with the USACE Team

During these meetings, participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with members of the USACE team, gaining valuable insights into the proposed initiative to deepen the harbor to a depth of 47 feet.

Enhancing Harbor Capacity

The primary objective of the project is to deepen the Wilmington Navigational Harbor from its existing depth of 42 feet to 47 feet. This expansion aims to enhance the harbor’s capacity to accommodate larger container vessels with deep drafts.

Facilitating Trade Routes

By increasing the depth of the harbor, carriers will be able to continue utilizing the Port of Wilmington as a crucial port-of-call for U.S. East Coast-Asia services, thus facilitating smoother trade routes.

Collaboration with NC State Ports Authority

In collaboration with the North Carolina State Ports Authority, the Corps is leading efforts for the Wilmington Harbor 403 Letter Report and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
