Dredging operations are scheduled to commence at Cape Lookout National Seashore this week.
Sand Relocation Initiative Details
A substantial quantity of approximately 200,000 cubic yards of sand will be relocated as part of a $7 million initiative aimed at enhancing accessibility to channels leading to the seashore, including those utilized by ferry routes.
Additionally, this sand will serve beach nourishment purposes, safeguarding the iconic Cape Lookout Lighthouse and other historical edifices from erosion originating from the sound side.
The project is anticipated to progress continuously until its conclusion, ensuring an uninterrupted workflow.
