This channel plays a vital role in accommodating the docking and unloading of larger car carriers, especially during low tides. Therefore, the dredging of the channel was deemed necessary to enhance the operational efficiency of the Grimsby port.

During the dredging operations, the crews managed to excavate over 500,000 cubic meters of clay, transporting it to the designated dumpsite HU-080, which required approximately a 45-minute round trip by sea.
